The blending of painting and sculpture is at the core of this work. In making the set a long narrow board is painted with many layers of paint, sanded and stained with aniline dyes prior to cutting into parts that will make up several pieces. I am doing this to create a subtle sense of unity between pieces, and also to explore the possibilities when starting from one beginning. These works explore the meeting of painting and sculpture where some elements are painted to appear like an object and other elements are objects…some textures are real and some are illusion.
