This series is akin to painting, like the X's, however in making the sets I begin with a long painted board, and use that to run through the center of the set. For example in the first two pieces below, the colorful painted ash board was painted with many layers of paint, sanded and stained with analine dyes prior to cutting. I am doing this to create a subtle sense of unity between pieces, and also to explore the variety of possiblity when starting from one beginning.
